Technology and Society

The Institute for Structural Reforms focuses on ways in which technological developments affect inequality in Israeli society — for example, how artificial intelligence will impact jobs that are likely to become obsolete in the labor market, and which groups are at risk of being harmed as a result. The Institute also addresses digital health as a means of promoting advanced, socially-oriented, and accessible medicine that serves the common good.

Digital Health as Social Medicine

Today, more and more systems are based on mechanized self-learning from examples collected in large databases, in a process called “deep learning”. Automatic tagging of friends in social networks, automatic detection of suspicious activity by security cameras, robotic trading of currencies and securities, computerized translation from language to language and many other applications are based on deep learning.
